ST. GEORGE — A kidnapping charge was dropped, but a St. George man accused of driving off with a juvenile earlier this year will serve seven months in jail before being deported, according to a ruling handed down last week.

On Sept. 18, 29-year-old Eugenio Fabian Hernando-Ramirez appeared for sentencing at 5th District Court in St. George on two charges: a second-degree felony of obstruction and a third-degree felony of failing to stop at the command of police.

Ramirez was originally charged with first-degree felony kidnapping and third-degree felony evading, as well as to two misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

The case was filed following an incident reported on the evening of May 1, when officers were dispatched to East Riverside Drive in St. George near Heritage Elementary School regarding a possible kidnapping, according to charging documents filed at the time.
