Have You Seen This? Why not to bring grandma wedding dress shopping

DRESS SHOP — Anyone who has been a bride can tell you that wedding dress shopping can be stressful, sure, but it also can be a lot of fun.

As long as you have the right people with you.

While it is true that a bride-to-be can shop for her wedding dress alone, very few want to do that. After all, there's nothing better than a breathtaking gasp from your crew when they see you in a dress that you nearly want to run for them to see.

Conversely, there's nothing worse than when one member of your entourage — or two or three — does not like something you thought could be THE dress for THE day. All of a sudden you feel like your taste is not as a great as you thought it was, or that you will never find a dress that can make everyone happy.

This was the case on an episode of "Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta," a television series focused on getting a bride-to-be the dress of their dreams.

A clip from a recent episode shows a bride-to-be dress shopping with her future mother-in-law and grandmother. Both older women are clear: They have conservative tastes and expect to see the bride in something that meets their preferences.

Take a look:

The best thing about this show is how realistic it is, despite being a "reality" show. There are members of a posse who have conservative tastes, sure, but there are also group members who just want to be the boss and have everyone follow their demands.

There are also people stuck in the time period of their own weddings. They do not seem to understand that times — and fashions — have changed.

Wedding dress shopping, especially at major, well-known shops like Kleinfeld's in New York City, Bridals by Lori in Atlanta or Confetti and Lace in the United Kingdom — all sites for "Say Yes to the Dress" — is a blast!

There will always be more dresses in your budget than you can ever imagine, and trying them on is exhausting but great.

And you do need friends and family with you to gasp when they see you in the right dress — and to keep their mouths shut if they do not.
