SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Many of the staff for the new Canyons School District are coming from the nearby Jordan School District.

Earlier this week, the Canyon board approved five new directors. Four of them are principals in Jordan District schools.

Four of the five new Canyon secretaries are also from the Jordan district.

Jordan Superintendent Barry Newbold said the moves have been disruptive to his district.

The Canyons district split off from the massive Jordan School District. It is comprised of the areas of Cottonwood Heights, Sandy, Midvale, Alta and Draper.

Jennifer Toomer-Cook, a spokeswoman for the Canyons district, says her district isn't offering higher salaries than Jordan.
