KANARRAVILLE, Iron County — A 53-year-old man died after crashing his motorbike in southern Utah Friday afternoon, authorities say.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a crash close to 6000 N. Old Highway 91 near Kanarraville shortly after 5 p.m. They arrived to find that the man had already died, according to Iron County Sheriff's Lt. Dave Mitchell.

Mitchell said it appears that the man, whose name was not immediately released, was traveling on the highway when he crashed into the ravine along the roadway. Mitchell added that it appears the crash occurred "hours" before the emergency call.

Investigators say they aren't sure what caused the man to crash, and the crash remains under investigation.
