MOAB — Police identified the two people who died after a head-on collision south of Moab on Tuesday night that also critically injured a child passenger.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden said a Toyota Camry and Chevy Equinox collided on U.S. 191 about 8 p.m. A woman was driving the Camry and a child was in the car with her, according to a release from the Utah Department of Public Safety; the Equinox was occupied by a male driver.
"The Equinox crossed center and impacted the Camry in a head-on style collision. The Camry came to rest off the east side of the roadway on its wheels in a south direction. The Equinox came to rest blocking the southbound lane in a southeast direction," said the release.
The 46-year-old woman driving the Camry, identified Thursday as Jennifer Ann Relph, of Moab, was killed in the crash.
The child in her car and the driver of the Equinox were both transported to hospitals with critical injuries. On Wednesday evening, Roden said the Equinox driver had died from his injuries. He was identified Thursday as Martin J. Espinoza, 50, of Moab.
Lane closures were in effect for about three hours while the crash was investigated.
