THE STABLE — I always wanted to play Mary in the family live Nativity, and I remember disappointment when I was instead cast as a donkey or an angel.
Watching this 6-year-old's excitement about his role in his class Nativity puts everything into perspective.
In a video that went viral on TikTok in the last week, Milo Joyce asks his mom to guess his "classic role." His mother guesses Joseph, a wise man and an innkeeper before asking Milo to go ahead and tell her — and he has a huge smile as he reveals his part.
"I'm door-holder number three. I'll be holding doors!" he says.
Milo's Mom encourages his excitement, and he begins telling her how his unique part will play out. He guesses he'll be dressed as a door and says he might slam the door in the faces of Joseph and Mary since there is no room for them in the inn.
In an interview on "This Morning" after the video went viral, Milo said he will get to decorate his door and plans to do so with a "Star Wars" theme.
I hope during this Christmas season we can all look at the things others might view as disappointments with the same enthusiasm as Milo when he relays his reaction to the announcement: "I'm a door holder, get in there, let's go, yes!"
