ST. GEORGE —Two people have been officially charged in connection with the March shooting of two adult dogs and four puppies in Colorado City, Arizona.

Anita Mortensen, public information specialist for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, said those charged include Julia Jessop, 38, of Colorado City, who was identified as the owner of the dogs but advised that she had turned over ownership of the six dogs to a relative.

The relative, identified as George Russell Cooke, 51, of Colorado City, was named by police as the person who shot the six dogs, with one dog surviving the incident with severe injuries.

The charges, which stem from an animal cruelty case that occurred in Colorado City on March 13, have been filed and submitted to the Mohave County Attorney's Office.
