RIVERSIDE, Box Elder County — One person was killed in a crash near Tremonton on Tuesday.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden confirmed the crash on southbound state Route 38 just south of where the road intersects with state Route 30. Troopers said a northbound 2001 Ford F-250 and a southbound 2005 Mazda 3 sideswiped each other around 9:10 a.m., causing the Ford to veer right, correct to the left and then roll.

The driver of the Ford, a 28-year-old man, was partially ejected and then hit by the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Roden said. The driver of the Mazda, a 22-year-old man, was uninjured.

The driver-side doors of the Mazda were peeled off in the crash.

S.R. 38 was closed in both directions and reopened around 1:30 p.m. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the crash.

Troopers did not release additional information and haven't yet identified the driver who was killed.
