THE HALLWAYS — Remember the time when you couldn't get on social media and not see a flash mob video?

Malls, train stations, grocery stores, weddings, every place and occasion was fair game — and we loved it. We couldn't get enough of the surprise and delight. But, like all trends, the sheen wore off. It's even probably a safe bet that some of you rolled your eyes thinking about it.

But let's put any "bah humbug" about flash mobs aside for a second and remember those first magical moments. Because a flash mob from 2019 has resurfaced once more, and there's a few reasons why it's worth another look.

Reason one: Tis the season for Halloween!

Reason two: Passionate teachers create passionate (or at least entertained) students.

Reason three: It's hard to say "no" to Michael Jackson's music.

This video features Jennifer Hawkins, a dance teacher at Birney K-8 School in Southfield, Mich., at the time. In the video, she leads her student-based flash mob down the hall to the delight of everyone.

"'Cause this is thriller, thriller night" rings down the hall as teacher and students alike recreate the famous dance from Michael Jackson's famous music video. Hawkins couldn't be more serious about the moves, while the dancing kids couldn't be having more fun.

It's clear that everyone loves Hawkins, even without the original video post that proclaimed Hawkins "The undisputed teacher of the year."

That's it. It's simple, pure, Halloween-y fun. It's the kind of thing that's sure to make you smile for at least five minutes, give or take.

You can revisit Michael Jackson's groundbreaking, one-of-a-kind cinematic 14-minute music video here.
