CONNECTICUT — We all know that bears love honey. How much do they love it? Apparently enough to endure an attack from an irate army of bees.
It all looked so innocent in the cartoons, when Winnie the Pooh would nab some honey from a hive. The bees might buzz around a bit, but Pooh never seemed any worse for the wear.
This video, however, shows what it's really like for a bear when the bees take action to defend their home and their honey:
According to the caption, the bear struck a beehive in a Connecticut backyard earlier this month. The homeowner shooed the bear away before it could do any real damage, but the animal returned later that night determined to finish the job.
At that point, the bees were well past the "buzzing" stage. As you can see in the video, they unleash their fury on the bear so thoroughly that the invader had no choice but to flee into the woods.
What can we learn from this video? First, honey is delicious enough to make us do stupid things. Second, never mess with a hive of angry bees.
