SALT LAKE CITY — An argument between two men standing in line to go through TSA screening at the Salt Lake City International Airport escalated to a potential felony crime on Monday, according to police.

Just after 9:30 a.m., a couple got into an argument with a 43-year-old man who was part of a much larger group that witnesses say was causing a bottleneck. The victim and his significant other tried to go around the group to put their items on the conveyor belt to be screened, apparently feeling the larger group was slowing up the line, according to Salt Lake police.

When the victim put his backpack on the conveyor belt, the man from the larger group picked it up and "slammed" it, breaking the screen on the victim's laptop, according to a police booking affidavit. Damage to the laptop was estimated at $2,000.

The 43-year-old man was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of destruction of private property.
