THE LIVING ROOM — A little white dog jumps onto a piano bench, plays a few chords and then starts singing his heart out to the tune of the chords he's playing, to no visible audience.
With the paws this dog has, the song he plays sounds surprisingly good. Or maybe the cuteness of the situation is overpowering my musical ear and I'm ignoring any dissonance. The dog seems to check the music on the piano and is clearly imitating his owner who, I'm sure, must sing while they play.
I spent a lot of time practicing the piano as a child, but this video taught me that it is not how well you play, but the amount of energy and gusto that goes into your performance.
After just under a minute, he stops, looks at the camera — maybe contemplating a bow, but definitely expecting praise, as dogs do — and hops down from the bench.
I initially found this video in lower quality, posted on another YouTube page. That video title claimed that an owner received noise complaints and found what was making the noise on a nanny cam. This seems like a good theory, as this dog is participating in his own version of "dance like nobody's watching."
The comments on both videos are replete with compliments. I think this shows that no matter how good you are at a musical talent, people will probably enjoy your music as long as you're putting forth an energetic performance. That, and the song is only about a minute long.
