SALT LAKE CITY — A car crashed into a train in the area of area of 200 South and 700 West Friday morning. The area was closed to traffic, but reopened around 8:30 a.m.
A man told police he intentionally drove around the railroad crossing arms at 200 South and 700 West just before 4 a.m. and hit an oncoming train, according to Salt Lake Police Lt. Dave Cracroft.
The train dragged the car about 100 yards, trapping the man inside. He was able to crawl out and had minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The train was damaged in the incident and will be blocking the area on 200 South until about noon, police said.

FrontRunner passengers can expect heavy delays, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. A bus bridge is in place between the North Temple and Salt Lake Central stations, and between the Salt Lake Central and Murray stations.
