SUMMIT COUNTY — A South Summit fire sergeant was severely injured while on duty, authorities say.
While patrolling in a forest on Friday, Sgt. Andy Crnich was severely injured, South Summit Fire District said, noting, "It has been a rough week for first responders in Summit County."
The cause of his injuries was not immediately released.
Crnich has worked at South Summit Fire District for 22 years, where he has worked as a captain, an EMT and a paramedic. Crnich is also a sergeant with the sheriff's office, South Summit Fire District said.
"Needless to say he is a man of unparalleled service to our community. We again ask for people to keep him in your prayers," South Summit Fire District stated.
