232 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death, 22K vaccinations reported Sunday in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 232 new cases of COVID-19 in Utah on Sunday, with 1 more death and 22,730 vaccinations.

The rolling seven-day average for new cases is now 336, according to the health department. The positive test rate per day as calculated by the "people over people" method is now 6.4%. The positive test rate per day as calculated by the "test over test" method is now 3.4%.

The new death reported Sunday was a Salt Lake County man between the ages of 45-64 who was hospitalized at the time he died.

There are currently 139 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Utah.

A total of 2,307,037 vaccine doses have been administered in the state, up from 2,284,307 doses on Saturday. Recent estimates from the state health department show that approximately 33% of all Utahns are fully vaccinated and 42% have received at least one dose of vaccine. Approximately 44% of Utahns age 16 and up (those currently eligible for the vaccine) are fully vaccinated and 57% of those eligible have received at least one dose.

Saturday's totals give Utah 400,352 total cases of COVID-19, with 16,361 total hospitalizations and 2,224 total deaths since the pandemic began.
