NOTIFICATION STATION — I hate having unread emails, updates or notifications on my phone.
My brother Dave, who some of you may know from his writing on KSL.com, is one of those people who lets his notifications build up. He sent me a picture once of his email that showed he had over 2,000 unread emails. I know there are some out there like me who understand when I say that picture made me nauseous and I had to sit down and think happy thoughts.
I can't live as recklessly as my brother, and I'm grateful I only deal with my handful of followers on Instagram — including my mom who doesn't remember how to get into her account.
I'm grateful because fewer followers means fewer notifications and my sanity can stay intact; but what if you have 8 million followers?
This quick video shows what happens to your phone's notifications when you're an Instagram star.
The video speaks for itself, but I can barely watch it. As soon as it started my brain said: "Nah. I'm good. You're on your own." It then promptly walked out the door and I woke up 40 minutes later in a tub filled with Cheetos. I was clothed, but one shoe and one sock was missing — not from the same foot.
You probably won't have the same adverse reaction that I did to the video; but if you're like me at all, it may put you on the verge of a panic attack. Let this also stand as a warning to all those out there thinking they'd like to be Instagram famous. There is a dark side to it, and that side wants your phone to be on an eternal buzz.
