LAYTON — One man died in a shooting Saturday night, police said.

Layton Police Sgt. Eric Smith said officials responded to the area of Golden Ave. and Church Street around 8 p.m. to find a man with multiple gunshot wounds outside in the street. The man was transported to the hospital and died from his injuries.

On Monday, police identified the man as 34-year-old Jonathan Trujillo, of Layton.

Early indicators suggested the incident involved a drive-by shooting, according to Smith. Neighbors and few witnesses were cooperating with police and the incident is under active investigation.

As of Monday, no arrests had been made.

Police said they did not have any suspects and noted there was no threat to the public, Smith said. Officials are pursuing leads, he added.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Layton Police Department at 801-497-8300.
