GUNLOCK STATE PARK — Officials have located the body of a man who didn't resurface after cliff jumping Friday at Gunlock Falls.
Emergency crews were called to the state park on Friday afternoon when they received reports that a man in his 30s did not resurface after jumping from the top of the waterfalls, according to a statement by Utah State Parks spokesman Devan Chavez.
Rangers from Utah State Parks joined with officials from Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Land Management law enforcement and Washington County Search and Rescue to help search, Chavez said. They recovered the body Saturday morning.
The man was identified as Brandon Gary Johnson, 36, of Logan, who had been working as a foreman in Washington County for the past four months, according to Chavez. Johnson appears to have died from the impact of his jump, Chavez said, but the incident will be investigated further in order to confirm.
