SALT LAKE CITY — The driver of a boat on Flaming Gorge Reservoir who caused three people to go into the water, killing one man, has been arrested, according to police.
Corey Dale Eggleston, 25, of Vernal, was arrested Saturday night for investigation of automobile homicide and DUI.
Daggett County sheriff's deputies responded to Flaming Gorge about 1:30 p.m. Saturday on a possible drowning, according to a Daggett County Jail booking report.
Eggleston told police he had been drinking and operating a boat and was making a left turn, the report states, "when the boat took on water and all three occupants (fell) into the water," according to the report. No one was wearing a life vest.
Another boat brought the deceased man to shore, and a third boat brought another man back to shore, the report states.
Eggleston was booked into the Uintah County Jail by Daggett County deputies because of a contract the two counties have with each other following the closure of the Daggett County Jail.
Eggleston has a history of intoxication and drug or alcohol related offenses, according to court records.
