PARK CITY — A drunken argument between two brothers at a Summit County ski resort hotel ended in gunfire and one man injured early Sunday.
Christopher Leahy Head, 32, of South Jordan, was booked into the Summit County Jail about 3 a.m. for investigation of attempted murder, two counts of felony discharge of a firearm, five counts of reckless endangerment, three counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, carrying a weapon while under the influence of alcohol, and intoxication
Summit County Sheriff's deputies and Park City police were called to the Westgate Hotel, 3000 W. Canyons Resort Drive, by Head's 35-year-old brother who reported that "Christopher Head shot at him multiple times, striking him once in the right buttocks," according to a Summit County Jail report.
The brother was taken to a hospital in Salt Lake City to be treated for his injury. Police went to the room where Head was staying and took him into custody without incident, the report states.
"While in the hotel room I observed a handgun on the living room table, two spent shell casings as well as a bullet hole on the wall next to the washing machine. I also observed several droplets of blood on the floor in the living room," the arresting deputy noted in the report.
Investigators interviewing witnesses learned that Head and his brother were arguing because the brother wanted to leave, the report states. All adults in the room were drinking at the time, according to the report.
That's when "Christopher pulled out a gun and began shooting," according to the report.
Several children, ages 14, 2 and 3 weeks, were asleep or nearby when the shots were fired, the report states.
Head does not have any significant criminal history in Utah, according to court records. He was being held Sunday on $100,000 bail.
