MICHAEL'S ARCHIVE — There is a long list of legendary guitarists like Eddie Van Halen. Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton to name a few. I now want to add Luca Stricagnoli to that list.
Stricagnoli is a finger-style guitarist, which means he uses his hammering fingers to get sound from the instrument as opposed to plucking the strings. He still plucks and strums, but his finger-style playing is mesmerizing. Not only is he talented, but he took one of the King of Pop's most iconic songs and gave it a new spin.
With two guitars and just 10 fingers, Stricagnoli plays a version of "Thriller" that needs to both be heard and seen. He creates every sound from the song with just the two guitars. Watching his fingers walk up and down the fretboard seems like an illusion because I don't think human digits were designed to move like that.
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
If you just listened to the song, you'd be all in with the harmonic tones and sharp percussion, but when you watch Stricagnoli play it, you just stare in amazement. This guy has an incredible talent and has given the world one of the greatest covers of "Thriller" ever.
