SALT LAKE CITY — Hello to the 50 percent of the world’s population left standing after Thanos snapped his fingers and caused half of all living things to disintegrate into fine dust — along with our hope for any happy ending to the last “Avengers” movie.
The good news is, now that we’ve had time to grieve, recover and move on with our lives, the Avengers are back!
The “Avengers: Endgame” trailer dropped Friday morning, and it’s all anyone’s been talking about apparently. To be fair, after watching it, you’ll probably be pretty stoked too. BUT YOU HAVE TO WATCH UNTIL THE END.
The trailer opens on Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, as he makes a final recording on his damaged helmet while floating adrift in space following the cataclysmic battle with Thanos on a distant planet far from Earth. His recording is a love letter and farewell to Pepper Potts — the water on his ship ran out four days ago and the oxygen will run out “tomorrow morning.” It’s the end.

The trailer then cuts to those left on Earth: Captain America, Black Widow, Thor and the Hulk. They plan to fight alongside some old friends to rectify what Thanos has done (maybe). You’ll be reminded of many who have disappeared — Spider-Man, Ant-Man and Black Panther’s sister and tech princess Shuri (her fate was left a mystery in the last movie).
Hawkeye makes a brief appearance (though we didn't see him once in the last “Avengers” movie), so hopefully he’s back to stay. Audiences may also be seeing his transformation to Ronin — an alias used by several superheroes in the Marvel universe.
I hope Scott Lang saves the entire universe alone just so we can have a movie where Luis describes what happened— Elizabeth (@jeffgoldbsdaddy) December 7, 2018
Sadly, Captain Marvel does not make her debut in the trailer; though, it does make what will be her inevitable entrance all the more suspenseful.
In true Marvel fashion, however, the teaser leaves one of the juiciest bits for the very end. (They do love their cliffhangers). I won’t spoil the surprise, but try to remember — what actually happened to Ant-Man at the end of the last movie? Is there hope yet for our lost heroes between the particles in the quantum realm?
