TAYLORSVILLE — One man is dead after a crash at the intersection of 6200 South and Bangerter Highway, police said.

The crash took place about 11:43 p.m. Friday on the northbound side of Bangerter, Unified police officials said on Twitter.

A Honda with three occupants rear-ended a large truck that was hauling a tractor, according to police. The driver of the Honda, a 24-year-old man, died in the crash, Unified police detective Ken Hansen said. The two passengers, also men in their early 20s, were in serious condition after the crash.

The driver of the Honda either did not see the trailer the truck was hauling, or misjudged how slowly the truck was driving, Hansen said.

All three of the men, including the driver, were extricated from the vehicle, police said. The northbound lanes of Bangerter Highway were closed after the crash, but had been reopened as of 7 a.m. Saturday.

No other details were immediately released about the circumstances of the crash. Police did not release the name of the man who died because they were still notifying his family members, Hansen said.
