SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police are investigating after shots were fired at an apartment building in South Salt Lake early Monday morning.

Police responded to 2235 S. 440 East about 2:30 a.m. and found eight shell casings, according to South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Darren Carr. Two apartments and a vehicle had been hit, he said.

No one was injured.

Police K-9 led officers to the 500 East area, where investigators believe the shooter or shooters may have gotten into a vehicle. No descriptions were immediately available.

Investigators did not initially believe the shooting was gang related but residents should not worry about random shootings, Carr said.
