SALT LAKE CITY — An unusually warm holiday week continued Thursday as temperatures tied the heat record for Thanksgiving in Salt Lake City.

The high of 65 degrees matches the record set on Thanksgiving in 1910, according to data from the National Weather Service. That marks two consecutive record-setting days. On Wednesday, the high of 68 degrees broke a record for that date set in 1926.

"We've had an unbelievably warm stretch of weather," said KSL meteorologist Kevin Eubank. "The forecast calls for much of the same."

The forecast calls for low temperatures Friday, but the weekend brings temperatures in the high 60s, Eubank said.

The National Weather Service predicted temperatures will reach 15-20 degrees above normal throughout the state.

"Which will tie or break more records that have been around literally since the 1920s," Eubank said.

Bryce Canyon also set a new record for high temperatures, reaching 67 degrees Thursday, compared with 64 degrees recorded in 1954.

Cedar City reached 71 degrees, blowing away the record of 64 degrees in 1995.

Kanab tied the 1950 record of 72 degrees, while Laketown set a new record of 63 degrees, compared with the 56 degree record in 1950.

"What's odd about this pattern is it's been very warm for a very long time, and it doesn't look like we're turning the corner," Eubank said. "It looks like we may even finish out the month of November on that very warm streak."

Utah also experienced record-setting heat this summer.
