WEST VALLEY CITY — A second person has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a West Valley hotel earlier this week.
Angelica Lopez, 35, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted murder.
Early Tuesday, a man, whose name and age were not immediately released, went to the lobby of La Quinta Inn, 3540 S. 2200 West, to say he had been shot, according to police. The man was taken by emergency crews to a local hospital in critical condition.
Detectives believe that Lopez, Robert Bradley Young, 45, and another unidentified man entered the hotel and went to the victim's room. The victim told police: "Robert was pointing a handgun at his head while threatening to kill him, which caused (the victim) to fear for his life," according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.
When the victim "moved," Young shot him in the chest, the report states. A motive for the shooting was not given, nor how the gunman and victim may have been previously associated with each other.
Young was arrested earlier this week. Police were still attempting Friday to identify the third man.
