WASHINGTON, Washington County — Hikers in a remote area of Washington County found a body Saturday morning that sheriff's deputies described as being in "an advanced state of decomposition." The body is believed to be that of a male.
Due to the remote location, Washington County search and rescue volunteers recovered the body but found no evidence of the person's identity, according to Sgt. Dave Crouse of the Washington County Sheriff's Office in a statement released Sunday.
Crouse said the body had been sent to the state medical examiner for further investigation because it was an unattended death. The cause of the person's death is unknown but there was "nothing obviously suspicious," according to Crouse.
The hikers found the body near Washington Hollow Trail, which is in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.
