FARMINGTON — Summer is a perfect time to take your exercising to the great outdoors, and Utah is the perfect place to hike for everyone.

If you don't know where to go, Intermountain Healthcare has added hundreds of healthy hikes — including new wheelchair accessible ones — to its Health Hub app.

While at the Farmington Pond trail, 17-year-old Tyler Boyle said, "Oh, great! Another uphill!"

Hills are not Tyler Boyle's favorite, or his mother's because she has to do all the work pushing his wheelchair.

But getting outside is important to this family.

"It's fun because you're kind of getting exercise, but you just learn how to work his wheelchair," said 13-year-old Thomas Boyle.

"It fills a need in me," said Erin Boyle. "The sunshine, the fresh air, just all of it; the smells and I really think being outdoors it brings us together as a family."

That is why they don't let Tyler's wheelchair get in the way of an adventure.

"It really is kind of a balancing act, juggling trying to figure out what's the best way to make sure everyone's having a good time," Erin Boyle said.

KSL TV asked the family to check out Intermountain Healthcare's Health Hub app that now includes wheelchair accessible trails.

"Let's do that one in Utah Valley, you (Tyler) would love that river right there and looks like your wheelchair would go perfectly along that little bridge, let's do that one," Erin Boyle said.

Tyler Boyle agreed and said, "Let's do that one."

Intermountain's app has information on 250 trails.

"Utah's a beautiful place, we've got so many trails that so many people don't know where they're at, how to get to them, who can go to them, if their dog can go to them, if they're wheelchair accessible," said Intermountain Marketing Manager Collin Searle.

The app allows you to filter by the type of experience you want and will pull up trails and hikes anywhere in the state.

"We wanted to make sure everyone had an opportunity to go and experience the outdoors and experience a healthy lifestyle," Searle said.

For the Boyle family, it look's like they've added a few new trails to try out in the future.

The Health Hub app is available on iTunes or Google Play for free. It's also online at intermountainhealthcare.org/live-well. More information on Intermountain's Healthy Hikes and Rides can be found here.
