MILLCREEK — Unified Police searched Friday for a man who robbed a photography business at gunpoint.

Surveillance video shows the man walking into Black & White Videoproductions, 3335 S. 900 E., Sunday night and immediately began yelling in Spanish, then punching one of two people inside the business.

Business owner Juan Hernandez said he was working late on a project and had left the door unlocked. Hernandez was stunned to see the man, who was armed with a gun.

“You can see in his eyes, you know, like he was ready to go,” he said.

Hernandez said the man took keys, phones and wallets belonging to the two men.

“(He said) ‘Go inside or I’m going to shoot you!’” Hernandez recalled.

The man, Hernandez said, directed the two men into a back room and closed the door before leaving.

“(He said) ‘I’ll give you half an hour to get out of the room. Don’t get out or I’ll shoot you!’” Hernandez said.

Detectives released a zoomed-in section of the video which showed the robber’s face.

Investigators described the suspect as a man in his 30s, wearing dark pants and jacket and a baseball hat bearing an “LA” logo.

Lt. Brian Lohrke said while the case was similar to another recent robbery of a business at 970 E. 3300 South. Detectives believe the suspects in the two cases were different.

Hernandez said he hoped somebody would recognize the suspect in his case from the surveillance video. He also encouraged people to lock their doors at night as his was unlocked at the time.

“Just watch out,” Hernandez said. “You never know. You always have to be alert.”

Anybody with information about the case was asked to call Unified Police Department at 385-468-9812 or 801-743-7000.
