SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of a motorcyclist who died in a crash in Salt Lake City Sunday night.

John Unker, 48, of South Jordan died after he lost control of his motorcycle on the northbound I-15 ramp to westbound state Route 201 around 9 p.m., UHP said. The motorcycle crashed into the concrete barrier and was found 400 to 500 yards down the roadway.

Investigators said Unker was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead on scene.

Speed is a possible factor in the crash, according to troopers.

The ramp was closed, but reopened Monday morning.
