PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Prosecutors are again getting more time to decide whether to seek the death penalty against David Ragsdale.
Fourth District Court Judge Claudia Laycock extended the Sept. 30 deadline on Wednesday after a request from Ragsdale's recently-appointed public defenders. Attorneys say they need time to get familiar with the case.
It's the second time Laycock has extended the decision deadline. In July prosecutors said they had not made a decision about seeking the death penalty.
The new deadline is Dec. 1.
Ragsdale is charged with aggravated murder for the January shooting death of his wife, Kristy. Witnesses say Kristy Ragsdale was gunned down by her husband at a church meetinghouse in Lehi.
