WASHINGTON, Utah (AP) -- Washington County hikers, runners and cyclists will soon have a new scenic trail to enjoy.
Barry Blake, director of leisure services for Washington City, says construction on the $1.4 mile Cottonwood Wash Trail is nearing completion. The trail starts at Telegraph Street and heads south in two directions.
Blake says the plan for the 4-mile trail is to connect with other area trails, eventually joining the area parks.
Washington City received $1 million in federal funding to build the 10-foot-wide trail. The city is spending an additional $400,000. The trail project has taken three years.
No motorized vehicles will be allowed on the trail.
Recreation enthusiasts should be able to use the trail by October.
