OREM — I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook.

Sure, it helps me keep up to date on my friends’ life developments and provides a decent forum for reasonable political discourse (I am SO kidding), but it seems to add so many new bells and whistles to my timeline, it’s hard to keep up.

If you’ve taken photos on your phone recently and opened your Facebook app, you may have noticed that Facebook will ask if you’d like to make a slideshow of your recent snapshots. While this is usually intended to group together photos of family gatherings or whatever it was you ate at your date-night restaurant, sometimes, what’s on your iPhone’s camera roll is less light hearted.

For Josh Gibson, the absurdity of his Orem rollover accident being turned into an upbeat, 26-second slideshow was too good not to share.

Gibson, who uploaded the video to YouTube Sunday, wrote in the description that he was in a near-fatal accident in his Toyota 4Runner on Sept. 10 and took a bunch of photos to document the damage.

Gibson also posted the video to the popular website Reddit and offered up a few other heartbreaking tidbits.

According to Gibson, the accident happened on the freeway near University Parkway in Orem when he noticed a black vehicle approaching the back of his 4Runner quickly. The black vehicle slowed down, but another red vehicle swerved out from around the black car to avoid hitting it and things went from precarious to dangerous.

Yesterday's HYST?

“Then, that red car swerved out to the right from behind the black car to avoid rear ending him, but overcorrected, lost control, drifted, then rear ended me going an easy 95-100 mph – he was hauling,” Gibson wrote on Reddit. “He hit into my rear passenger side bumper, so my tail slid to the left and I started to roll.”

Gibson’s only injuries, he said, were to his elbow and shin. He wrote that the EMT who treated him “kept looking at me, shaking his head and smiling saying that he'd never seen someone just walk away from an accident like that.”

Speaking of injuries, and insults to add to them, Gibson said that he had just paid off his “favorite car to date,” and had gotten the notice to that effect in the mail two days before his accident.

“Murphy’s law,” he wrote.
