SALT LAKE CITY — Police identified a man Sunday who was apparently killed by a hit-and-run driver on North Temple.

The body of Phillip Aguto, 36, was found in the road at 1047 W. North Temple about 5:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Salt Lake police Lt. Derek Dimond. Aguto appeared to have died from injuries sustained from the impact of one or more vehicles, police said.

Several vehicles stopped and then left, and no one was with the victim when police arrived, he said. Police have not found the first car that might have struck Aguto.

A person told police Sunday a third vehicle might have hit him. The driver thought he hit debris in the road, but after seeing news stories about the incident, believes it could have been Aguto, according to Dimond.
