A new superintendent was named tonight for the newly-formed East Jordan School District. Dr. David Doty of Sandy was named to the new post.
Doty is currently the assistant commissioner and director of policy studies for the Utah System of Higher Education. Forty-three-year-old Doty and his wife, Lori, have three children, one each in high school, middle school and elementary school.
"We're right in the middle of raising children and educating them, as I know many of you as teachers and students. We have always taken our own children's education very seriously and want nothing for the rest of you and your children that we wouldn't want for our own," Doty said.
The new district is made up of students from Sandy, Cottonwood Heights, Midvale, Draper and Alta.
