(KSL News) Beginning Monday, Aug. 18 the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will close the east side of the intersection at 7800 South and State Street for two weeks as part of its State Street Widening and TRAX Bridge Project.

The intersection will be closed to complete storm drain, gutter and sidewalk preparation. There will be no access to or from 7800 South to State Street in either direction.

North and southbound traffic on State Street will not be impacted.

UDOT suggests using 8000 South to 700 East or 7200 South to 900 East.

The $27 million State Street Widening and TRAX Bridge Project will replace the single-span UTA TRAX Bridge over State Street with a new double-span structure.

Areas of State Street below the bridge will be widened and drainage will be improved in the area. Landscaping, pedestrian walkways, and six large murals depicting historic Midvale themes will also be added.

Construction is scheduled for completion in early 2009.
