OREM, Utah (AP) -- Drivers turning left at some Orem intersections will get a clearer signal about what to do.
Traffic engineers are installing flashing yellow arrows in some left-turn lanes, replacing circular green lights.
The move is meant to improve safety and give drivers more easily understood directions.
The lights will be installed at four Orem intersections this month and next.
Mark Taylor, an engineer with the Utah Department of Transportation, says the lights are already being used in four other states and at three intersections in Salt Lake City.
If the Orem experiment goes well, more flashing yellow arrows could be installed elsewhere in the state.
