SPACE — NASA has released a gorgeous video of Earth from space in stunning 4K. The video was shot using a RED Epic Dragon camera from the International Space Station.

The video shows our planet as a beautiful blue sphere speckled with clouds and masses of land as the Earth rotates from day to night.

“NASA monitors Earth's vital signs from land, air and space with a fleet of satellites and ambitious airborne and ground-based observation campaigns,” NASA states in the video’s description. “The International Space Station hosts a variety of payloads and experiments supporting climate research, weather predictions, hurricane monitoring, pollution tracking, disaster response and more.”

The agency shares the data from its various research projects with other agencies all over the world in a collaborative effort.

“Scientists worldwide use NASA data to tackle some of the biggest questions about how our planet is changing now and how Earth could change in the future,” NASA states on its website.

The high-definition camera was sent to the International Space Station back in 2015 to assist in research projects that demanded high-quality video.

“The higher resolution images and higher frame rate videos can reveal more information when used on science investigations, giving researchers a valuable new tool aboard the space station,” NASA states on its website.

It also comes in handy when making a breathtaking video of Earth from space.
