A 3-year-old boy drowned today in a backyard swimming pool. It happened at a home in Midvale.
The boy was playing in a 4-foot pool with his 4-year-old sister.
Sgt. John Salazar of the Midvale Police Department said, "At one point he had a life preserver on. He got sick in the pool. The father takes his son out of the pool, takes the life preserver off him, cleans up the preserve, cleans up the pool."
Then the father turned his back for just a moment "The child gets away from the family and finds his way back into the pool," Salazar said.
The boy was found face down in the pool. Paramedics were able to get him breathing again, but he died later at the hospital.
