We now know the name of the woman killed in a crosswalk at the Salt Lake International Airport on July 22, and we're learning more about what happened from her husband.

The victim was 65-year-old Patricia Jordan from Oxford, Md. She and her husband had just landed in Salt Lake. She was on her way to get the rental car when she was hit in the crosswalk outside Terminal 2.

Her husband, Harry Jordan, didn't know she was hit until airport officials paged him inside the baggage claim area, where he was waiting for their luggage.

Over the phone, Harry Jordan told KSL that witnesses saw the driver going well over the posted 10 mile an hour speed limit through the crosswalk. He said, "It was a needless, malicious death. There was no reason for people not to stop at that crosswalk, and I think she's totally responsible." Spray paint on the asphalt still marks the scene of the accident. He said his wife suffered a brain injury and died several days later.

He said she was a remarkable person in life and in death. He described her as "loving, compassionate, and giving to other people." He said, "Even in her death, she wanted all of her organs to be used for somebody who needed help."

The case is now in the hands of the city prosecutor who will determine whether the driver will face any charges. It could be several days before that decision is made.

Airport officials declined to talk about what happened until the investigation is finished.

Patricia Jordan was a family law coordinator for the circuit court in Talbot County, Md. She was going to Park City for a seminar. The couple had decided to come out here a few days early to spend time alone and to sightsee.
