Revitalizing downtown Ogden gets a slap in the face from the national economic slowdown.
A developer has pulled the plug on plans for a $115 million luxury hotel, and a deal to build condo and commercial building for 22nd Street has also fallen through.
"As they went forward and were ready to start trying to put the financing together, things in the economy had kind of slid or backed off," explained David Harmer, Ogden's economic development director.
Harmer says many buyers who pre-bought condos at Ashton Square had second thoughts and canceled.
"It's hard to predict when we'll be able to line up a developer," Harmer said.
He admits it could be years before they find new developers willing to take a risk.
