SALT LAKE CITY — How original is your beloved pet's name?
In a state full of canine companions, it's likely that there is at least one other dog nearby with the same name as your furry friend. For example, in Davis County alone there are seven dogs registered with the name "Meatball" and 22 with the name "Nacho."
Movies also appear to be a popular source of inspiration for pet names, with 154 dogs in Davis County named "Chewy" and 54 named "Simba."
Below is a list of the most popular dog names in three of the Utah counties where dogs are licensed through the county. The number of dogs with each name was included when available.
