SALT LAKE CITY — A man connected to the "ambush" killing of Orlando Roybal during a 2014 drug deal has been ordered to serve more jail time and five years of probation.

Chris Villiard, 29, pleaded guilty in October to aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, while a murder charge was dismissed. He was sentenced Friday to serve the remaining 96 days of a one-year jail sentence after credit has been given for time he has served so far, plus five years of probation. He was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.

Villiard is one of four people charged with Roybal's death. A murder charge against Cameron Fuger, 28, was dropped in a similar plea deal and sentence in November.

The gunman in the fatal robbery, 25-year-old Amar Miljkovic, pleaded guilty earlier this year to murder in Roybal's death. A charge of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, was dismissed, and he was later sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

The case against Whitney Marie Connor, 28, is ongoing. She has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and aggravated robbery, first-degree felonies, and obstructing justice, a second-degree felony. Her attorney, Maren Larson, has called for a mental health evaluation, and Connor's next hearing is set for Jan. 22.

On Dec. 4, 2014, police say Roybal, 32, and his girlfriend were in South Salt Lake to make a drug deal, which was actually an "ambush-style" plot to rob the woman.

When they arrived at 600 E. Leland Ave., the woman they were meeting, Connor, climbed into the back seat of the car. Roybal reportedly told his girlfriend, "We're about to get got" as three men wearing bandanas on their faces rushed up to the car, charging documents state.

Two men opened the driver's side door where Roybal's girlfriend was sitting, demanding her purse at gunpoint and shooting Roybal multiple times after they grabbed it.
