11 tornado-related deaths... New Mexico snowstorm... Peyton Manning denounces story

GARLAND, Texas (AP) — Eight people have died and 15 people were injured in Garland, Texas, in a destructive tornado. That brings to 11 the number of people who have died in Texas from severe weather. Eighteen weather-related deaths are reported in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — New Mexico residents are dealing with a snowstorm that has crippled parts of the state and caused traffic accidents and road closures. In Albuquerque, police say officers responded to 178 weather-related accidents by Saturday evening. About 58 involved people with injuries.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Peyton Manning is denouncing a report that he'd received human growth hormone through his wife while he recovered from neck fusion surgeries in 2011. The Denver Broncos quarterback calls the report set to air on Al Jazeera "totally made up," and says "it never happened."

CHICAGO (AP) — Pastors and community residents have scheduled a prayer vigil at the site where a 55-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were shot and killed by Chicago police. The vigil is in honor of Bettie Jones, who police said was accidentally shot during a domestic disturbance call.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has reached $1 billion at the box office, reaching the milestone with record-setting hyper speed. The Walt Disney Co. says "The Force Awakens" crossed the mark over the holiday weekend. The film accomplished the feat in just 12 days.
