PAROWAN, Utah (AP) — A historic building in downtown Parowan has been sold for $1 as part of a contest for local businesses.

[The Spectrum](<http://bit.ly/1ZdiNpk >) reports city officials announced that Jason and Katie Green won the Economic Incentive Contest, making them the new owners of the Rufus Building. The couple was chosen out of 10 local businesses that sent in their proposals for the building.

The Greens have operated a barber/beauty shop in Parowan for 14 years. Their plans for the historic building include splitting the space between his barbershop and her salon. They are looking to have a small retail space in the middle.

City Manager Shayne Scott says the Rufus Building was donated to the city last year by a man who purchased the property eight years ago.
