DRAPER, Utah (AP) -- The Utah State Prison in Draper will rename the warden's building for Stephen Anderson, a guard who was killed by an inmate last year.
Prison spokeswoman Angie Welling says the state building board approved a request Wednesday to rename the building that holds administrative offices. A ceremony will be held in about six weeks.
A year ago Wednesday, Anderson was shot and killed with his own gun while accompanying a prisoner to a medical appointment at the University of Utah.
Curtis Allgier fled the clinic but was captured at a fast-food restaurant.
The 28-year-old Allgier has been charged with murder and could get the death penalty if convicted. A hearing to determine if he will face trial is set for July 11.
