SALT LAKE CITY — Each Wednesday, the Best Friend's Animals Society comes to the KSL-TV studios to feature a pet needing a forever home.
Penelope is a 10-week-old calico cat with a sweet and adaptable personality. She gets along with everyone and is looking for her second chance at a forever home, according to Temma Martin of Utah’s Best Friend’s Animal Society.
“She was actually adopted and returned already,” Martin said. “Simply because the people adopted two kittens and decided they had their hands too full and could only handle one.”

June is the “Cat Days of Summer” at the Best Friend’s Animal Society. The organization received almost 550 kittens since March, Martin said. But with so much kitten competition, the adult cats might be left behind, so this month all adult cats can be adopted for only $10 at the adoption center.
Additionally, this Saturday the Sugar House adoption center is hosting Camp Kitten. Eighty kittens will be at the center for the public adoption event from 12-5 p.m., with fun and refreshments for the family.
If you are interested in a pet featured on Pet of the Week, you can call the Best Friends Animal Society at 801-574-2454. Animals featured on the show remain at the Sugar House pet adoption center, located at 2005 S. 1100 East, at least throughout the day they are featured and often beyond. Call ahead before visiting to ensure the animal is still available for adoption.
The Best Friend’s Animal Society works with 52 shelters around the state to help facilitate adoptions. All animals featured or at the adoption center are spayed or neutered, have a microchip and are vaccinated. Adoption fees vary.
