Randall Jeppesen reportingOne Utah college is hoping to bring home a national title in a sport many people usually don't think about when they think of student athletes.
Utah Valley State College doesn't have a football team, but it has one good rodeo team. "Yes we do have a rodeo team and have had since the late '60s, early '70s," said school rodeo adviser Steve Fordham.
He says college rodeos have everything the professional rodeo has. "Saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding," he said.
This year the team is ranked No. 1 in the nation. It will try to bring home the gold ring later this month at the College National Finals Rodeo in Wyoming.
And yes, these bronco busters still have to attend class. "The reason they're here is to get an education," Fordham said.
Instead of winning cash for first place, they win scholarships.
