Mary Richards reportingCustodians are cleaning up a huge mess at Rose Park Elementary School.
An eight-inch water main broke sometime overnight, flooding the school with about 4 inches of water.
When the head custodian got to the school at 6:30 a.m., he saw water flowing underneath the doors. It came rushing out when he opened them.
Officials activated a phone tree to let parents know school was canceled today.
They hope to get everything cleaned up today and the break fixed, so that school can be back in session tomorrow.
After the cleanup, they will assess the damage. It appears the water mostly damaged the floors and a little bit of the walls. But if any teachers had boxes or books on the floor, they could also be damaged.
They are not sure what caused the water main break.
