SAN DIEGO (AP) — "Jackass" star Steve-O has been cited for altering a San Diego freeway sign in a protest against SeaWorld, but he won't face criminal charges.
U-T San Diego reports (http://bit.ly/1HVyVUK ) Monday that Stephen Gilchrist Glover can settle the citation by paying a $239 fine, or he can appear for a trial before a traffic commissioner.
Glover, known for his outlandish stunts in the "Jackass" TV show and movies, was cited for interference with traffic devices.
A YouTube video posted in August shows the 40-year-old climbing a ladder to reach an Interstate 5 sign for Sea World Drive. He taped a placard over the last word, changing the phrase to "SeaWorld Sucks."
Glover said his protest was in response to controversy over the movie "Blackfish," which criticized SeaWorld's treatment of killer whales.
